Here you will find audio files and video links composed by Mr. E-Scholar. Using esoteric wisdom, mathematical ratios and knowledge of cymatics, I create meditative and invigorating sonic journeys. Additionally, by adding binaural beats based on the golden ratio φ the soundscapes mirror the fractal nature of our physical world as well as syncing with our brain-body connection.

Featured here is a seed for that idea, a hydroglyph image I captured awhile ago in coffee titled Trillium Expressions. The bright orange areas of the hydroglyph are where the coffee grounds have been sonically-filtered away allowing the ring light lights to pass through the fluid and reflect of the bottom of the metal pan. The darker regions are where the coffee accumulated according to the flows in the fluid. As the fluid was deformed by this motion brought about by the speaker oscillating up and down, the lights from above reflected off the sculpted surface to give the amazing geometrical image we see. I then set the hydroglyph image atop a custom digital background, spun into motion with the sounds from a canned funk track on Motionleap.

Well folks, here you are - 17.5 minutes of an experience unlike any you have ever had before!
This synesthetic sonnet combines 17 minutes of uncut cymatics video footage displaying the incredible undulating geometries of 13.77Hz with a binaural beat soundscape featuring the Solfeggio tone 174Hz, its lower octave of 87Hz, with a phi-based binaural beat of 2.624Hz down at 53.766Hz (panning 53.766Hz and 56.39Hz left and right, so use headphones) all designed to harmonize with the 13.77Hz cymatics imagery. I then combine digital loops, live didgeridoo and vocals, and synthesized instrumentation to the mix for a truly mind-focusing synesthetic sonnet!

Definitions
Golden Ratio (φ) - the convergence of the series of ratios of successive terms in the Fibonacci sequence. Equal to (1+sqrt(5))/2, or approximately 1.61803, φ is a transcendental number that satisfies the equation φ^2 - φ - 1 = 0.
Thus it can be seen that two special relationships hold:
Binaural beat - a beat frequency created within our mind/perception when exposed to two separate frequencies, one played in each ear. It is believed we can sense binaural beats up to 60Hz; that is, when two separate frequencies are played in each ear, our mind perceives the beat that is created by the difference of the frequencies as long as the frequencies are within 60Hz*. For example, when the left ear is exposed to a frequency of 125Hz and the right ear is exposed to 138Hz, our mind will pick up on and synchronize with the beat difference of 138-125 = 13Hz.
*Because frequencies always contain their octaves, it can be easily verified that binaural beats occur with upper-octave interference as well. That is, if a frequency of 300Hz is played in the left ear and 602Hz is played in the right ear, the mind will perceive a beat difference of 2Hz despite the frequencies being more than 60Hz apart since 600Hz is the first upper-octave of 300Hz.
Phinaural beat - a binaural beat comprised of φ, φ^2, or 1/φ. That is, a phinaural beat utilizes a beat difference of 1.618Hz, 2.618Hz, or 0.618Hz. Most tracks have all three layered amongst the tones, thus unintentional binaural beats of 1Hz and 2Hz are created.

Soulfeggio Grooves is an invigorating dance album based on esoteric wisdom and a dash of creative inspiration featuring a harmonizing buffet of the Solfeggio tones: 174Hz, 285Hz, 396Hz, 417Hz, 528Hz, 639Hz, 741Hz, 852Hz and 936Hz. After adding phinaural beats to several of these tones on each track, I then layered live and digital instruments, recorded bird songs, audio from a waterfall, vocals, and catchy loops to the mix. Timings and melodies from the Fibonacci sequence were also added to several tracks. Enjoy!
